"Wahoo! I can't think of a better way to spend my summer than with like-minded individuals working towards a great cause! I've attended a summer camp as a camper and then counselor for the past 12 summers (this camp is obviously amazing), and I felt that this summer it would be time for me to extend my positive energy to a broader group of people with greater needs. When someone told me about Bike and Build, I pretty much applied instantly, and I have had no second thoughts or doubts that this is what I'm meant to put my energy towards this summer. My dad has been building houses for a living for most of my life, so I have a bit of experience with carpentry and love to learn all I can about being 'handy.' The idea behind Habitat for Humanity is so selfless and loving that I can't wait to learn more about it and become a life-long supporter. "Did I mention that I love to bike too? Well, I've gone through my stages of slacking and of regular involvement, but I definitely enjoy speeding down the road via the fuel of my own legs! I started biking with my mom as a youngster, participating in the Virginia Peanut Tour a couple of times, a week-long Colorado bike trip that my mom organized when I was in 8th grade, and then a triathlon a couple of years ago. "I was born and raised in North Carolina, but my family moved to Oregon for my 8th grade year. I stayed out west until graduating with a degree in Biology from the University of Oregon. Then I spent a year working at various outdoor centers and camps, and then came back to North Carolina to start graduate school in Science Education. "It's hard not to fall in love with nature and want to share it when you've lived in Oregon! I like to be outside as much as possible...preferably being active in some way. I also enjoy reading great books, listening and singing to most types of music, and being in the presence of kind company. I can't wait to start this adventure and meet everyone who's participating! I have no doubt that each person will be an awesome individual with great motives to do something good for the world." We wish Bronwyn the best on her 3,736-mile trek across country, and we are proud to be a sponsor. To read more about this program, visit www.BikeandBuild.org. "My skin can get very dry with all of my time outdoors. The nv.skin Vital Moisture Face Cream keeps my skin well-hydrated even with biting wind on cold bike rides. The mild scent is natural and soothing as well."
