Words of Wisdom
Dorotha Massey shares her commitment to the Simplexity Health products
and living a healthy life
Note: Since there are several references to ages in this article, we want to mention (as a point of reference) that this was written in 2001.

Dorotha Massey is 87 years old and has been a Simplexity Health Distributor for over six years. She and her 91-year-old sister make a great team! We invited her to share some words of wisdom…

I must tell you that my older sister is eating most of the same Algae products that I am, though in slightly smaller amounts. She is signed up as a PC in my network. I share everything I am learning and doing with her. She is gung-ho for being my buddy on whatever project is at hand. Having a support system makes everything easier. We are both widows with no family living with us so there are no challenges in changing meal times or in working our schedules around the needs of others. We each have our own condos in a retirement community. We share our evening meal—alternating between being the hostess and the guest. We walk together at 6:30 every morning. This is where the buddy system is really helpful. There are mornings when I would much prefer to just lounge around, but I know she will be at my door at 6:30, and there is no way that I am going to beg off and not keep up with her. She admits that she feels compelled to come because she knows I will be waiting. Being accountable to someone else keeps you on track.

We have proven to ourselves that exercise makes a big difference in our energy and our sleep patterns. We are both finding that a 4:00 PM deadline for our last meal of the day is a very comfortable feeling. Unless it is unavoidable, we will make this habit a permanent practice.

We have a younger sister (82) who lives in the Chicago area. She was married to a surgeon for over 62 years and was always well-steeped in the medical model. Her husband always considered me a "crack-pot" where health was concerned and he was totally against his wife being any part of my "voodoo." He is gone now and I have her signed up as a PC. She eats E-12 Super Enzymes, Super Q10, Alpha Sun and Omega Sun tablets, and Essentials. She has no idea of their real value, but doesn't want to be left behind. When she calls me to order the product, she asks for "the horse pills, the roly-polys, the little green things and the stuff in the bag." The health knowledge I try to get across to her doesn't impress her, but the fact that our older "energizer bunny" sister recommends them does. So be it! No matter where the motivation comes from, our blessed algae will work its magic.

I generally go to bed at 8:00 or 9:00 PM and get up anywhere from 3:30 to 5:00 AM. I love the quiet of the early morning hours. Believe me, I feel much better than I did during the many years that I observed totally erratic sleeping hours. Take heed, my young friends, there are many wonderful benefits that come with growing older.

I grew up before junk food. All of our meals were home-cooked from home-grown products including meat and dairy, in addition to fruits and vegetables. We ate our produce fresh from the garden in the summer, and canned or stored in the winter. This was a time before the soil became depleted, when food was real food.

In addition, when we had any health problem, Mother treated us with tried-and-true home remedies. Doctors were for delivering babies and setting broken bones. Our bodies were not insulted by antibiotics or other prescription drugs, and there were no smokers among my family, relatives, or friends. None of these things were for health reasons—it was just a way of life.

During my high school and college years, I introduced many "insults" to my poor, unsuspecting body…but I know that the "complimentary" things during the formative years had laid a strong foundation.

Remember that age is merely a state of mind. I don't think of myself as old. I am sure that the Supreme Intellect intended for us to live much, much longer than we do. If we truly believe in regeneration and we feed our cells algae to accomplish it, who is to say how long we can live? Remind older friends and relatives that it is never too late to assist the regeneration process. This miraculous human body never forgets what it needs and will respond when it gets it.

Add a lot of laughter to the mix and you've got it made. Look forward to your retirement years. There are many more positives than negatives. If I were given a choice, I wouldn't go back one single day.

Aren't you glad you're reading this? If we were face to face it would be hard to get away from me. Be careful when you open the door for an elder to spout off.

Love to all of you wonderful friends,

Dorotha Massey
